Blood shortage raises pressure
The American Red Cross blood levels are
so low that elective surgeries may be canceled. The organization,
with a donor center in Towson at the Beltway Processional
Building on York Road, is asking all
blood donors to give as soon as possible. Donors may contribute
through community or company drives.
Donors must be at least
17 or 16 with parental consent, and at least 110 pounds.
They also must not have given blood in the last 56 days or
received a tattoo within the last year.
To schedule an appointment or for company or
community drives, call 1-800-448-3543. Companies and organizations
wishing to sponsor a drive should call 1-800-787-9282 x4680.
