Organ donors honored at remembrance ceremony

The Transplant Resource Center of Maryland will have a remembrance ceremony Sunday, April 18, to honor organ donors and their families. More than 300 donor and recipient families are expected to attend the ceremony according to organizers. The event is being held in observance of National Donate Life Month. The donor families will be presented with a Gift of Life Donor Medal and a seedling tree. The ceremony will take place from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn on Shawan Road. Sheppard Pratt to hold art auction
An art auction to benefit Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital will be held this weekend April 17 & 18. A portion of the proceeds will be used for a permanent art collection in the new hospital building under construction at the Towson location.

The art to be auctioned will include 400 pieces of American realism fine art. The collection may be previewed from 11AM to 7 PM Thursday and from 10 AM to 6:30 PM on Friday. The auction will be held in two sessions beginning 6:30 Friday and 10 AM Saturday. For more information call 410-938-3154.

Sheppard Pratt to acquire ReVisons
ReVisions, Inc. behavior health program is due to become part of Sheppard Pratt. ReVisions provides community housing, psychiatric rehabilitation, and medicinal and clinical day care services.

Towson based Sheppard Pratt is the state's largest private providor of behavioral health and special education services. ReVisions is based in Catonsville.

Blood shortage raises pressure
The American Red Cross blood levels are so low that elective surgeries may be canceled. The organization, with a donor center in Towson at the Beltway Processional Building on York Road, is asking all blood donors to give as soon as possible. Donors may contribute through community or company drives.

Donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental consent, and at least 110 pounds. They also must not have given blood in the last 56 days or received a tattoo within the last year.

To schedule an appointment or for company or community drives, call 1-800-448-3543. Companies and organizations wishing to sponsor a drive should call 1-800-787-9282 x4680.
